1. So reads the Marriage Record for B. C. McConnel and Elizabeth Hall in the Family Bible. However, there is no Sheridan in Lucas County. (see 1895 map) I suspect that it a phonetic spelling of "Chariton."
2. Elizabeth's Funeral Memorial Record lists her place of birth as Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa, while the Bible lists it as Davis County as does her obituary.
In the 1850 census West Virginia-born Nathan and Permelia Hall were counted in the Salt Creek precinct of Davis County with their family which included three-year old Elizabeth. Davis County is two counties east of Wayne County. At the time of the 1860 census they were still in Davis County, in Union Twp., Troy post office. By 1870 Elizabeth's parents and unmarried siblings were counted in Marsh Twp., Taylor County, Harmony post office, three counties to the west of Wayne County. All three of these counties, Davis, Wayne and Taylor, are on the Iowa-Missouri state line and these were turbulent times. (see map of Iowa counties)
